Zen Green Stage Impresses Tour Golfers At Sea Island

SHEFFIELD, UK – – British golfing innovation now plays a central role at the award-winning Sea Island golf resort in Georgia, USA, after the installation of the Zen Green Stage.

The resort’s remarkable Golf Performance Center now has a full-size adjustable Green Stage putting platform as the centrepiece of its putting studio, where world-renowned Tour putting coach Phil Kenyon is now in residence.

“The Zen Green Stage is undoubtedly the world’s best indoor tool to teach people how to read greens, and to learn the relationship between speed and break when putting” said Craig Allan, a Master Club Fitter and Sea Island’s Golf Performance Center Manager.

“Choosing the Green Stage was an easy decision to make. When Phil Kenyon agreed to base himself at Sea Island he wanted the best tools to be available for his students, including the Green Stage which he already has installed at his own academy in England. I first hit putts on the Green Stage myself when visiting Phil’s facility at Formby Hall Golf Resort & Spa in summer 2018, and immediately knew that it was what we needed here at Sea Island” he said.

“The Zen Green Stage is an integral part of what we offer at Sea Island” said Phil Kenyon.

When it was unveiled at Sea Island earlier this spring, Allan organised an illustrious group of people to act as early Green Stage testers – including 11 PGA Tour players.

“Our Tour golfers who tried it on day one were flabbergasted by the Green Stage” said Allan. “We also had many of golf’s leading media along to our opening event, including staff from USA Today, CBS, The Golf Channel and Forbes.com. Their reactions to the Green Stage were uniformly positive.”

Among the world-class, seventeen-strong coaching team at Sea Island’s Golf Performance Center at Sea Island are four club fitters, two golf fitness coaches, renowned sports psychologist Dr Morris Pickens and a host of talented golf instructors, as well as putting specialists Phil Kenyon and David Angelotti.

The resort is on the Georgia coast, conveniently located between Jacksonville, FL. and Savannah, GA., and is frequently used by Tour golfers including Major winners and Ryder Cup captains to sharpen up their game.

“We look at Zen as long term partners here at Sea Island” said Allan. “The Green Stage is a great tool for our elite golfer customers, which include some of the world’s most successful Tour stars, and it is also there for our putting staff to help golfers of all skill levels to become better players.

“It is also incredibly enjoyable to use – once they are on it, people hate to leave it!”

At Sea Island Zen Green Stage is used alongside the GASP Systems video swing analysis equipment and the SAM Puttlab training system.

The 20ft x 7ft device was installed by a team from Zen who flew across from their base in Sheffield, northern England.

And Tim Cutshall from IA Sports, widely recognised as one of the world’s premier installers of golf academy technology, was also involved in his capacity as a Zen ambassador in the USA.

“We are here to make golfers better so they can have more fun on the golf course” said Craig Allan. “The Zen Green Stage now plays a valuable role in that process, here at Sea Island.”
